Vision: 

To be center of excellence in quality laboratory services in Ethiopia.

Mission: 

To improve the quality of health care service by establishing quality laboratory system and building the capacity of regional and sub-regional clinical and public health reference laboratories

Objectives:

Increase and maintain quality assured laboratories,
Enhance laboratory quality management system implementation, and
Strengthening laboratory capacity for referral and backup testing services.

Major activities:

 Enroll laboratories for strengthening laboratory management towards accreditation (SLMTA),
 Enable laboratories to achieve ISO accreditation,
 Capacity building for Regional external quality assurance programs,
 Strengthen regional external quality assurance programs,
 Evaluation/ Validation of Equipment and supplies,
 Implementation of Laboratory quality assurance,
 Laboratory infrastructure/ system development,
 Strengthening Biosafety and Biosecurity system,
 Strengthen regional systems for referral specimen transportation and result delivery,
Strengthen backup testing services,
Capacitate clinical, public health and emergency diagnostic services, and
 Provide laboratory in-service training.
